Located less than 30 minutes north of Boston, Saugus, Mass., is centrally located near all of the recreational opportunities New England has to offer. Within a three-hour drive or less, you can be skiing the resorts of Vermont and Maine, hiking and camping in New Hampshire's White Mountains, or boating and sailing in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Rhode Island and Cape Cod. With its suburban setting, Saugus offers several lodging options with access to U.S. Route 1 and Interstates 93 and 95, enabling easy travel throughout the region.

Holiday Inn Express

Located on the southbound side of Route 1, this property (formerly a Days Inn) features four stories with 145 guest rooms, many of which were renovated in 2009. Lodging options include standard guest rooms with two queen beds or one king bed, in addition to mini-suites with one king bed and a pull-out sofa. There are eight rooms designated as "handicap accessible," which include a roll-in shower for a wheelchair, and all but 20 of the hotel's units are designated non-smoking. In-room amenities include free wireless Internet, a coffeemaker, mini refrigerator, cable television with pay-per-view movies and video games, a work desk and free local telephone calls. The Holiday Inn Express also offers a complimentary continental breakfast, a daily newspaper delivered to your room, an outdoor swimming pool and off-site fitness center. There is also a shuttle to Logan International Airport, which is about 20 minutes away.

Red Roof Inn

Located on the northbound side of Route 1, the Red Roof Inn is one of the newest hotels in Saugus, featuring three stories and more than 100 guest rooms. Bedding selections include standard rooms with one king bed or two double beds as well as a limited number of two-room suites with a king bed, sleeper sofa, microwave, refrigerator and two 25-inch televisions. Standard in-room amenities include expanded cable television, wireless Internet, AM/FM alarm clock radio and a coffeemaker. One pet is allowed per room, and children under 17 years old stay free in their parents' room. Microwaves and refrigerators are available in some standard rooms for a fee. The hotel does not offer a continental breakfast; however, several restaurants are within walking distance.

Springhill Suites by Mariott

Located just north of Saugus in the town of Peabody, Springhill Suites features six floors with 164 studio suites, all of which are about 25% bigger than average hotel rooms. Bed choices include one king, one queen or two doubles, and all suites include a sofa bed, microwave, mini-refrigerator, sink and coffee pot. Suites also include a work space with free wireless Internet, luxury bedding and linens, iron, ironing board and hairdryer. Hotel amenities include an indoor swimming pool, complimentary hot breakfast buffet, daily newspaper, business center with fax services, on-site laundry and valet dry cleaning. Sevearl restaurants are nearby that offer delivery services to the hotel, which has easy access to Interstate 95.
