Restaurants in Midtown on the West Side, NYC
Lovers of the great outdoors usually find themselves spending a lot of time in Central Park when visiting New York City--and for good reason. With its seemingly endless miles of hiking trails and cycling opportunities, Central Park is an oasis of calm in the midst of a very chaotic city. If you find yourself exiting the western side of the park, you will soon be surrounded by some of the finest restaurants in the world.

Le Bernardin

Le Bernardin proudly boasts being one of midtown Manhattan's finest restaurants--and they have three Michelin stars to back it up. This is the place to go if you want seafood in a fine dining atmosphere, and have no squabbles about paying for it. Choice items include sea urchin, striped bass, calamari and lobster.

Churrascaria Plataforma

Churrascaria Plataforma is a carnivore's paradise. Unlike traditional restaurants, where you get a menu and order individual items, here you get a little bit of everything. In exchange for a fixed price, a variety of meats will be brought to your table throughout the evening. Chicken, steaks, lamb and beef--oh my!

Del Frisco's

Texas-style USDA steaks are the item du jour at Del Frisco's, which is situated in the McGraw Hill Building. If you're not in the mood for heavy meat, they also offer a range of seafood items, such as shrimp, oysters and crab cakes. Del Frisco's may not have a lot to offer vegetarians, but carnivores will be well taken care of here. Note that this is one of Manhattan's larger restaurants--there are enough tables to seat 400 people here--so if you are looking for an intimate dining experience, you should go elsewhere.

Bangkok House

This is the place to enjoy Thai food, if you happen to find yourself in the middle of Manhattan's restaurant district. Start off with a hearty soup--the Tom Kha Gai here is classic. If you can't decide what to order, the Prix Fix menu is a steal--it comes with a soup, a salad, a starter, a main and dessert.

Carmine's

Tourists and locals alike flock to Carmine's for its delicious take on traditional Italian meals and its prime location in the midtown theatre district. Note that Carmine's is massively popular, so reservations are essential. Some of the more popular menu items are the veal Parmesan, rigatoni with sausage and broccoli, shrimp marinara, angel hair pasta with Bolognese meat sauce and excellent Porterhouse steaks.
