Kwangju City, also known as Gwangju, is the center of arts and culture in the southwestern region of South Korea where industrial resources are rapidly developing, making the city more attractive to tourists. Kimdaejung Convention Center, the pride of the city, supports exposure of Korean culture to the world through cultural programs and promotions. Visitors can visit the Kimchi festival, a major annual celebration of food, music and Korean arts, or explore the different unique parks in the area. The city is also home to many nice hotels.

Hiddink Continental Hotel

Centrally located in the city, this hotel has 60 rooms and housed athletes during the 2002 FIFA World Cup. The hotel is less than a mile from Gwangju Airport and near train and bus stations. The hotel staff can speak three languages: English, Japanese and Korean. It offers standard, deluxe, ondol and suite rooms. Amenities include TVs, refrigerators, Internet access, a whirlpool, a sauna, and laundry and room services. Guests can relax in the hotel's sky lounge, restaurant, jazz bar and banquet hall, or take a rejuvenating walk or have a picnic at nearby Sajik Park. There are also antiques and marine products at shopping malls nearby. Non-smokers should inform the desk upon registration. Check in is 2 p.m. and check out is at noon.

Geumsoojang Tourist Hotel

This hotel offers Korean Ondol and English-styled rooms for guests. Hotel personnel speak English, Korean and Japanese. Amenities include coffee makers, refrigerators, Internet access, TVs, whirlpools and bathtubs. Guests can take advantage of laundry and room service around the clock. Geumsoojang, which is not pet-friendly, also has handicap-accessible rooms for disabled persons. Guests can easily travel around and outside the city because of the property's proximity to major transportation areas like the International Airports and bus and train stations. Shopping centers, restaurants and parks are also easily accessible within minutes. Check in is 2 p.m. and check out is at noon.

Ramada Plaza

Ramada Plaza is located in downtown Gwangju City, allowing guests to easily walk to nearby shopping centers and restaurants. Gwangju International Airport is a mere 15 minutes away, and other accessible airports include Mokpo Muan International Airport, Yeosu Airport and Mokpo Airport. Guests can visit the Gwangju Art and Culture Center, Hiddink Stadium, Gwangju National Museum, Wolchulsan National Park, Naejangsan National Park and Mudeungsan Provincial Park to learn about Korean culture and arts. Room amenities beyond the standard include Internet access and free newspapers. Guests can dine in the hotel's restaurant or utilize the fitness, therapy center and spa. The hotel also houses a meeting room and executive floor lounge for fax and photocopying services for business professionals. Check in is 2 p.m. and check out is at noon.
