Mountain Cabins in Boone, North Carolina
Boone, a college town that is home to Appalachian State University, is located in Watauga (means "whispering waters") County in North Carolina. In early 2009, Grandfather Mountain became a state park, and the amusement attraction will still be operational but will become a nonprofit. You can hike the trails of Grandfather Mountain and enjoy the spectacular scenery.

High Country Inn

High Country Inn has 120 rooms, including two- and three-bedroom cabins. High Country Inn is on 14 acres with a spring and is carved out of the mountain. Habitat on the property includes rabbits, ducks and trout. Inn amenities offered are a fitness center, indoor and outdoor pool, sauna and hot tub.

Guest cabins have a hair dryer, HBO, refrigerator and coffee maker. There are five cabin choices including the Hunter's Ridge, Escape cabin, Change of Pace cabin, Eaglesnest and Eaglesview cabins. The Hunter's Ridge is a three-bedroom cabin with stone fireplace and accommodates six to eight. The Escape cabin has a gas log fireplace and hot tub in the master bedroom with a full kitchen and is two bedrooms, two baths. Change of Pace sleeps 12 and has a large deck with a hot tub and a kitchen. The Eaglesnest and Eaglesview cabins have the same accommodations, three bedrooms with two baths and separate living area. Geno's Sports Lounge is open for dinner.

Highland Hills Motel & Cabins

Highland Hills Cabins accommodate from six to 10 people. Weekender cabins sleep up to six people. It has a large front porch, a full bath, kitchenette and a living/dining area. It includes cable TV. The Elkhorn also sleeps six and has two separate bedrooms, one of which is a semi-private loft. It has a full kitchen and large front porch.

The Cody has one bedroom with a sofa bed, Murphy bed in living area, washer and dryer, a large deck, fireplace and kitchen. The Cherokee has three bedrooms, two baths and sleeps up to 10 guests. It has a Queen loft, one bedroom with a bath. Master suite and living room have sofa beds. The Cody has a full kitchen, front porch, gas log fireplace, washer and dryer.

Parkway Cabins

Parkway Cabins, located on 20 acres with five cabins, border the Blue Ridge Parkway with views of Seven Devils and Beech Mountain. Tweety's Trail, for hiking, is located on the property along with a stocked fishing pond. Parkway Cabins is in the middle of outdoor activities just a short drive away such as skiing, rafting, mountain biking and hiking.

Three log cabins and two country farmhouses are available for rental. The Mountaineer luxury cabin has a six-person hot tub and sleeps nine. The Turkey trot is a two-bedroom, two bath log cabin and sleeps up to eight people with a loft, fireplace and Jacuzzi spa.

Winkler's Creek Cabins

Winkler's Creek Cabins has three secluded cabins close to Boone, less than five minutes away. The Overlook house and The Payne branch cottage both have three bedrooms and two baths. The Overlook house, with the creek just below it with a waterfall and a swimming hole also, has a large covered porch. It has a full kitchen with a microwave, coffee maker and cooking utensils. You can enjoy an indoor fireplace and washer and dryer.

The Payne branch cottage has queen beds in all three bedrooms. It has two baths, full kitchen with everything you need to cook a meal, and AC. Also, it has cable TV, free long distance calls, wireless Internet, outdoor gas grill and washer and dryer.

Dad's place has a hot tub on the deck overlooking Winkler Creek. You can hear a waterfall. The cabin has a one bedroom with one and one-half baths. It has a full kitchen, microwave, coffee maker, indoor fireplace, wireless Internet and outdoor grill.
