Estes Park, Colorado, has an elevation of 7,522 feet and is located 64 miles northwest of Denver along interstates 36 and 34. It is a mountain town next to the Rocky Mountain National Park and the town has more than 300 retail shops and restaurants. Rock climbing, boating, mountain biking, hiking, snow shoeing, skiing, horseback riding and trail running are all popular in Estes Park. After a day of exploring the area, stay at one of the local cabin communities to experience a historic, rustic feel of an actual Colorado mountain town.

Lazy R Cottages

The Lazy R Cottages are cabins located in Estes Park off of Interstate 36 on Moraine Avenue. It can accommodate four to eight people per cabin depending on the cabin size. All cabins contain a kitchen, fireplace; some of the larger cabins have a hot tub and two bathrooms. The Lazy R Cottages have one-, two- or three-bedroom cabins ranging in size from 290 to 1,100 square feet. Horseback riding, white-water rafting, lakes, chuck-wagon dinners and hiking trails are within a short drive. These cabins are also close to Rocky Mountain National Park and have porches or decks to view local wildlife. All cabins are equipped with cable television, DVD players and free movie rentals.

Pine Haven Cabins

The Pine Haven Cabins are located off of Interstate 36, past the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. The cabin grounds have an outdoor playground and 14 acres of lush trees located next to the Rocky Mountain National Park. Over 600 feet of Fall River streams run through the cabin land and hiking, fishing, horse shoes, basketball, hot tubbing, grilling and panning for gold are just outside each cabin's doorstep. Each cabin has a full kitchen and some cabins feature a fireplace, deck or loft.

Aspen Lodge Ranch Resort

The Aspen Lodge Ranch Resort has 23 one-, two- or three-bedroom cabins set in the forest with beautiful mountain views. All cabins come with coffee makers, but no kitchenettes, refrigerators or televisions. Cabins feature queen-size beds and some have twin bunk beds. The three-room cabin has four queen beds and two bathrooms. The property has a seasonal outdoor pool and year-round hot tub and offers wagon rides in the summer and sleigh rides in the winter. The Aspen Lodge Ranch Resort has an on-site restaurant and has over 30,000 acres with hiking trails.
