National Mechanics Bar and Restaurant
Originally the National Mechanics Bank in 1837, the structure that now houses the National Mechanics Bar and Restaurant still embodies that early American feel in its old brick walls and warm, rich lighting. Doubling as a bar and restaurant, the National Mechanics makes a great family choice for lunch as well as a lively, late-night spot to hang out with friends or make some new ones.
The discerning foodie in your group may be intrigued by the grilled salmon with mustard cream sauce or the grilled flank steak served with seasonal vegetables. The "Nostalgics" section of the menu features classic American comforts like corn dogs and tomato soup with grilled cheese. The extensive beer selection at the bar allows guests to sample globalization at its best in 32 varieties including a few rotating taps and bottle options. In addition to a reasonably-priced menu, the restaurant offers nightly drink specials.
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. except for Mondays when the restaurant opens at 5 p.m. (as of 2009).
