North Bend, Wash., is located east of Seattle on Interstate 90 and offers access to a variety of recreational opportunities due to its proximity to the Cascade Mountains and Snoqualmie Pass. Mt. Si Trail, an eight-mile hike reaching 4,000 feet, is "the most famous and popular hike in Washington State," according to the city's website. Downhill and cross-country skiing are offered at Snoqualmie Pass, and many mountain biking and hiking trails are located near North Bend.

The Salish Lodge is a "romantic mountain retreat" located adjacent to Snoqualmie Falls, the second most visited tourist destination in Washington. Eighty-nine guest rooms are scheduled for renovations to be completed early 2010 and will "enhance the authentic and cozy lodge-like feel" while maintaining the fireplaces, jetted tubs, and luxurious bedding in each room, according to the hotel website. Lodge amenities include wireless Internet access, a fitness center, award-winning spa services and two on-site restaurants: the Dining Room and the Attic. The Salish Lodge & Spa is located four miles northeast of downtown North Bend.
