Shanghai Jazz
A top jazz club, Shanghai Jazz was inspired by Shanghai nightlife from the 1920s and '30s. The menu focuses on seasonal inspiration and Chinese heritage. The chefs pair traditional dim sum with various Asian specialties. The entrees are seafood-heavy, and offer several selections of fish and shrimp, with several chicken and beef dishes as well. The long oak bar is a great place to unwind with a cocktail and some appetizers and enjoy exceptional live music.

Garlic Rose
Garlic Rose is a uniquely New Jersey experience focused mostly on Italian-American comfort foods like Penne Puttanesca and Veal Scallopini. The décor is somewhat kitschy--with faux-exposed brick and black tablecloths--but the service is friendly and the portions are generous. A few tables outside make for a great place to spend an afternoon in warm weather.

Il Mondo Vecchio
Chef Michael Cetrulo opened Il Mondo Vecchio as an ode to the traditional Italian classics he learned at home as a child. The menu fulfills many expectations with plenty of tomato and basil themed pastas, nice selections of antipasti and well-crafted veal entrees. The portions are extremely generous and the prices are moderate. The dining room is traditional with golden walls, white tablecloths and comfy seating. Il Mondo Vecchio is a "BYO" (bring your own) restaurant; you can call ahead for recommendations of good wine stores in the area.

L'Allegria
L'Allegria has been a local favorite for over 25 years. The beautiful, light-drenched restaurant is filled with Tuscan-style touches. The food is polished and sometimes inventive. Several of house signature dishes like the veal gnocchi and roasted duck are worth a try. The dessert menu is legendary, so leave room for the cannoli. L'Allegria is known as much for their service as their food. The staff is always professional and accommodating, and never lingering.
