Hotels in Brno, Czech Republic

Hotels in Brno, Czech Republic
The second-largest city in the Czech Republic, Brno is well worth a visit before or after touring Prague. Because it was the Czechs' original capital city, Brno is stuffed with fabulous old-world residences and hotels, crooked cobbled streets and ancient landmarks such as the Petrov Cathedral, Freedom Square and 17th-century Spilberk Castle. Home to the University of Brno, the town is full of young people, tourists interested in Moravian history, young couples and adventurists. Visitors to the city can tour area vineyards, go caving, or boat on the Svratka River coursing under Brno's bridges and through the countryside. Brno offers luxury and more intimate hotels near all the attractions.

Hotel Slavia

One of most high-profile and well-known hotels in historic Brno, Hotel Slavia offers guests over one hundred years of tradition and expert service. The attractive corner hotel in the city center is designed in Art Nouveau style with arched doorways and windows and balconies facing the streets. Hotel Slavia offers 79 rooms and suites designed in a Bohemian, Art Nouveau style with artistic furniture, thick drapes and geometric lamps. Rooms include modern amenities like satellite TV and free Wi-Fi. Because the hotel is downtown, it's close to the main train station and is in the partial shade of the Spilberk Castle. The hotel also operates its own café, summer terrace and wine bar with dancing. Guests looking for adventure can go caving in nearby Moravsky Kras, a cool, vast cave filled with ancient stalagmites and stalactites (18 miles from the hotel). Visitors to Brno can also visit the Masaryk Race Track (Masarykuv okruh), a motor racing track (10 miles) from the hotel.
