Maui Beachfront Hotels

Maui Beachfront Hotels
Maui, the second largest Hawaiian island, is named after the Polynesian navigator, Hawai'iloa, who is credited for the discovery of the Hawaiian Islands. Hawaiian lore has it that Hawai'iloa named the island after his son, Maui, a Polynesian demigod. Maui is known as the "Valley Isle" because of the large isthmus between its northwestern and southeastern volcanoes. It depends on tourism and agriculture, dominated by coffee, macadamia nuts, papayas, tropical flowers, sugar and pineapples.

The Hana Highway runs along the east coast of Maui, passing many mountains, beaches and waterfalls. Lahaina, a major commerce and tourist town, is located on Maui along the coast and with many shops and restaurants.
