A borough of Bergen County, Edgewater is situated on the Hudson River. As of the 2000 census, the borough has a population just under 10,000. It is also home to about 250 Monk Parakeets, which are actually native to South America. Local attractions include Veterans' Field, the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway and the Binghamton Ferry. In addition to hiking west of the city, the river offers some excellent opportunities for water-skiing, fishing and boating. After exploring the area, travelers will probably have an appetite. Fortunately, there are a few restaurants ready to welcome them for a meal.

River Palm Terrace

Since 1983, the River Palm Terrace has served American cuisine in a fine dining setting. The restaurant features its steaks, which are dry-aged, and fish, which is bought fresh daily. In addition to the steaks, featured menu items include the Prime Lamb Chops, the Grilled Free Range French Cut Chicken Breast and the Live Lobster. The restaurant has hardwood floors, hand-crafted furniture, and barely adorned walls. The bar has a deep wine list, as well as a range of domestic and imported beers. It is open seven days a week, for lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended.

Le Jardin Restaurant

Le Jardin Restaurant combines tropical decor with French-inspired seafood cuisine. The patio overlooks the river. The interior decor is elegant and classic, with small bouquets at each table. The ambiance is formal and romantic. Featured dishes include the Roulade De Volaille Cordon Bleu, the Medallion de Veau Normand and Duck a L'orange. The bar has a range of Caribbean, American and European mixed drinks, as well as wine and beer. It is open seven days a week, for lunch and dinner.

John's Shaghai Restaurant

Located a few blocks west of the riverfront, John's Shanghai Restaurant draws from Chinese and Japanese cuisines. The restaurant's decor is simple, with antique decorations and a few works of Japanese artists on the walls. The ambiance is casual and family-friendly. The featured menu items are the Moo Shu Pork, the Bangkok Chicken and the Camphor Tea Smoked Duck. The bar is fully stocked with most liquors, imported and domestic beers, and a limited number of wines. It is open seven days a week, for lunch and dinner.
