Kauai is a small island, so wherever you choose to stay, you'll find that you can easily visit most of it. If you want to be centrally located, a hotel in Lihue is the best place to stay. Not only is it close to the airport, but it also puts you roughly halfway between Waimea and Hanalei, near most sightseeing. This it will also let you spend more time doing the things you love, such as hiking, snorkeling or paddling.

The Kauai Marriott is situated on 800 acres of lush tropical grounds that overlooks Kalapaki Bay in Lihue. This 588-room hotel has many features including five on-site restaurants, two tennis courts, a 24-hour fitness center and a golf course. In addition, the resort has a 26,000-square-foot swimming pool and five spas.

The resort has a full-service day spa. Room features include a refrigerator, high-speed Internet access, and bathrobes and slippers. Among the many activities available nearby are snorkeling and scuba diving, as well as kayaking on the bay.

Hilton Kauai Beach Resort

The Hilton Kauai Beach Resort is a 350-room hotel located in northern Lihue, and just a five-minute drive from the airport. The resort offers a choice of three on-site restaurants as well as four swimming pools, two spas and a full-service day spa.

Rooms feature marble bathrooms containing Crabtree & Evelyn bath products. There are also Hilton Serenity beds and private lanais that look out onto the mountains, the lagoon or the ocean.

According to the Ultimate Kauai Guidebook, the beach adjacent to the resort is unswimmable. However, nearby attractions include beautiful Wailua Falls and the Fern Grotto, both of which are excellent places to hike.

Garden Island Inn

The Garden Island Inn is a small 21-room hotel located near Kalapaki Beach. The hotel has no restaurant, however numerous dining spots are within walking distance of the hotel. In addition, although the Garden Island does not have resort facilities such as a fitness center, they do offer guests free use of water equipment like boogie boards and snorkel gear.

The property will lend guests towels, coolers and beach chairs, perfect for spending a day on the beach. Rooms all have air conditioning and also contain kitchenettes with a mini refrigerator, microwave and basic kitchenware. In addition, all rooms have free high-speed Internet access.
