Toronto, Ontario, offers outdoor enthusiasts plenty of reasons to get out of the house. The city's extensive system of ravine parks allow hikers, bikers and runners to explore this interconnected network without ever having to cross a street. In the winter months this same network provides kilometers of cross-country ski trails and several toboggan runs.

Lisbon by Night

Nestled in Toronto's Little Portugal community, Lisbon by Night is a cavernous, family friendly restaurant with an extensive but inexpensive menu.. Lisbon by Night offers classical Portuguese cuisine, with an emphasis on seafood. Portuguese sausage in a brandy flambe is a popular appetizer as are cod fish and shrimp croquets. For a main course, consider the marinated pork sauteed with clams and potatoes or grilled grouper with Meuniere sauce.

Chiado

Chiado has been providing elegant Portuguese dining to Toronto foodies for more than 20 years. This upscale spot boasts an extensive "progressive Portuguese" menu and impeccable service. The chef has fish flown in from Portugal daily, and serves up items such as carpacio of grouper with white asparagus or a pan seared loin of monk fish served with lobster, shrimp and clams. Plenty of meat and poultry dishes are also available.

Adega Restaurant

Adega Restaurant is conveniently located in bustling Dundas Square, making it popular with locals and visitors. This moderately priced, casual restaurant features a number of Portuguese-influenced entrees, such as sardines served with parsley salsa or grilled Portuguese Chouriço sausage. Entrees include applewood-smoked chicken risotto as well as the restaurant's signature Mediterranean octopus grilled and garnished with a tomato, red onion, capers and olive oil salsa.
