Hillsborough River State Park

The state park between Tampa and Zephyrhills on U.S. 301 protects a section of the Hillsborough River, which runs from the Green Swamp east of Zephyrhills through downtown Tampa into the bay. Miles of hiking trails on both sides of the Hillsborough River wind through a variety of ecosystem, from floodplain swamps to upland pines. Canoeing and kayaking are popular activities. In addition to tent campsites, limited hookups (water and electric) are available. Additional amenities include a swimming pool, playground, bath house, biking and park events, such as the Haunted Woods prior to Halloween and Fort Foster Historic Site re-enactments. Pets on a leash are welcome.
