Auburn California is in Placer County and is steeped in California Gold Rush History. Settled in 1949 by a group of French prospectors, it was first known as the Auburn Ravine before becoming what is now known as Auburn. Touring the area in an RV is a great way of experiencing Gold Rush history, and there several good RV campgrounds and parks available.

Auburn Gold Country RV Park

The Auburn Gold Country RV Park gives RV guests full electric, water and sewer hookups as well as cable TV and Wi-Fi at each site. A heated swimming pool and playgrounds give children lots of fun recreation. A laundry room, showers and private toilets, kitchen room, fishing pond and television room are all on-site for guests use and enjoyment. Sites are available for RVs up to 60 feet, including slide-outs, and both 30- and 50-amp electric hookups are available. Pets are welcome, and there is a nice pet walk and play area for four-legged visitors.

Bowman RV Park

The Bowmen RV Park calls itself a "nice place for nice people." It is a family friendly campground with many amenities for kids and adults. Pets are welcome, and the park has a small pet walk area to play, stretch and meet other four-legged friends. All hookups come standard with RV sites, including water, electric, and sewer. Cable TV hookups and Wi-Fi come standard with RV parking sites. Showers, toilets and a coin-operated laundry room are on the grounds for guest use. Playgrounds and a swimming pool round out the amenities. Credit cards are accepted. The Bowmen RV Park is open year-round and is close to town for urban exploring.

Placerville KOA

For those who like the familiarity of franchise/chain campgrounds, there is a KOA in neighboring Placerville. Full hookups, including 30- and 50-amp electric, water, sewer, cable television and Wi-Fi, are available for all RVs, including large, pull-through rigs. Playgrounds and swimming pools give the kids plenty to do while resting at the KOA. A laundry room, kitchen house, guest house/lounge, game room, pet walk and play area, BBQ grills and fire rings are on-site. All major credit cards are accepted, and AAA and Good Sam Club discounts are available. Reservations during the busy summer season (April through September) are recommended and can be made via phone or online.
