Hotels in Springfield, Massachussetts
Springfield, the largest city in western Massachusetts, is known as the birthplace of basketball and the home of children's author Dr. Suess. Being an urban center, Springfield itself doesn't boast much in the way of outdoor attractions but it is a convenient stopping point for north-south journeys along Interstate 91 or east-west journeys along the Massachusetts Turnpike. Within an hour from Springfield are the rolling hills of the Berkshires, the Pioneer Valley five-college area, the mountains of Vermont and the Connecticut seacoast.
