The Taco Shop @ Underdogs
Self described as a fusion restaurant, The Taco Shop @ Underdogs is part taqueria (authentic Mexican taco shop) and part sports bar. While some taqueria purists may have a problem with this fusion idea, the restaurant has loyal customers. "Their specialty are the tacos served 'Nick's Way,' with one soft tortilla and one crispy tortilla making up the shell of your taco, filled with your meat of choice, beans, salsa and a ton of guacamole," says Taco Shop fan Marcela Muñiz. The atmosphere is casual and cool, with sports being televised on every wall. Average cost per person runs from $10 to $15 (as of 2009).

La Taqueria
La Taqueria embodies the Mission District authentic Mexi-Cali culture. It's a casual, cash-only place. The most popular items are the carnitas and carne asada tacos and burritos, which cost $3 to $6 apiece (as of 2009). There is an additional charge for extras like avocado, sour cream and chips, which are a must. Ask for your order extra crispy and they'll fry the tortilla; it's pure bliss.
