Andy Nguyen's Vegetarian Restaurant‎

Since 1985 Andy Nguyen's Vegetarian Restaurant has been wowing both vegetarians and carnivores with Vietnamese dishes, including "fish" and "meat" dishes made from soy. The "mock meat" is so good, nonvegetarians cannot tell the difference. The restaurant is open Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.. Most dishes are inexpensive (under $10 in 2009), and the restaurant takes major credit cards.

Au Lac Veggie

Au Lac Veggie serves all dishes free of meat, poultry, fish, eggs and MSG. This establishment is known for its lunch specials and dinner entrees, with everything from Veggie Mongolian Chicken to Indian Curry Fried Rice and Vietnamese Clay Pot dishes. All dishes are under $10 (2009), and the restaurant is open Tuesday through Friday for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., reopening for dinner at 5:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, hours are 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visa/Mastercard is accepted.

Noble Vegetarian

Noble Vegetarian serves Asian cuisine, many vegan dishes and is known for its pho noodle soup and juice bar. It is open everyday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.. Noble Vegetarian accepts credit cards, and most dishes are under $10.

Sunflower Drive In

About 18 miles outside of Sacramento is Sunflower Drive In. This restaurant has been open since 1978 and is still family owned and operated. Locals rave about Sunflower's terrific "nutburgers" and nutty tacos. Wild chickens and roosters provide entertainment for diners. All dishes are vegetarian, and if you require a dish to be vegan, just ask and the staff will accommodate your order. They are open Monday and Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday to Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Most dishes are under $10, and Sunflower accepts credit cards.
