Hotels in Nagoya, Japan

Hotels in Nagoya, Japan
Nagoya--Japan's fourth largest city--is the traditional travel stop on the road between Tokyo and Osaka. Nagoya is renowned for three key Japanese Shogun, who unified and ruled Japan for several centuries. While in Nagoya, visitors can wander the grounds of the imposing Nagoya Castle, which stands as a proud reminder of these Shoguns' power and influence on both a modern industrial city and a nation. Nagoya is a convenient central Japan home base with a JR Rail Pass and day trips to hike Mount Fuji or to see major sights in other cities. Travelers who need a place to stay can check out the following hotels.

Westin Nagoya Castle

The Westin Nagoya Castle is a business hotel with Western-style rooms and amenities, including a five-lane swimming pool and a tea lounge. Meijo Park is only five minutes away, providing a break from this industrial city, and the place for cherry blossom viewing in Nagoya in early spring.

Guests can't get any closer to Nagoya's illustrious history than staying across the Nagoya Castle grounds at the Westin Nagoya Castle. From there, they can see the famous castle up close, and enjoy panoramic views of downtown. Nagoya supported Japan's traditional Noh performance art since the feudal era and Shoguns. It is possible to enjoy regular performances at the Nagoya Noh Theater, not far from Nagoya Castle.

Nagoya Marriot Hotel

If a location near the Japan Rail's Shinkansen Bullet Train is important, then the Nagoya Marriot Hotel is a smart choice. Mere feet away from the entrance to Japan Rail's Nagoya Station, the Nagoya Marriot makes a good home base, not only for Nagoya, but other nearby must-see sights in cities like Kyoto, Osaka and Nara.

The Nagoya Marriot is a five-star, well appointed hotel for international travelers with beautiful views of Nagoya Castle. The on-site JR station is a mini-city with shops, restaurants and the famous Takashimaya department store. When visitors get tired of city life, they just hop the Bullet Train and they can be in the resort town of Hakone at the base of Mount Fuji in about three hours.

The Cypress Hotel Nagoya

The Cypress Hotel is a clean, quiet business hotel, with spacious, Western-style single and double rooms. It is located in the city center, home to theaters and concert halls, and a five-minute walk to the JR Nagoya Station for day trips outside of Nagoya.

Families can get out of the city center and hop a local train for the Port of Nagoya. They can take a tour of the Antarctic Museum located on the water inside an ice breaker vessel, or see the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium with the kids.

If it's winter, hotel guests might want to head for Nagoya Station and take a three-hour ride on Wide View Shinano limited express train to Nagano City, home of the 1998 Winter Olympics and every winter sport activity imaginable.
