Huntsville, Alabama German Restaurants
Just west of the popular camping and hiking destination at Monte Sano State Park, Huntsville, Alabama offers many food choices for travelers who are exploring Northern Alabama. If you use Huntsville as your headquarters while you check out area lakes or William Bankhead National Forest, here are some German restaurant dining options in the area.

Cafe Berlin

German cuisine took root in Huntsville, Alabama, when German rocket scientists located here during World War II, and the Cafe Berlin is the high-end fine dining choice. The restaurant, with its German decor inside, doesn't look like much outside - just another strip-mall store front. But the food, which ranges from standard German dishes to delicacies, makes up for it. Among the choices: schnitzels, wursts, veal and pork dishes. But the restaurant also offers herring, escargot and liver pudding.

The interior has a variety of German decorations and knickknacks. The cafe has a special German import beer menu and several dessert choices, including Black Forest cake.

Schnitzel Ranch

This converted fast-food restaurant offers several unique takes on traditional German schnitzel. How unique? How about Hawaii Schnitzel, topped with cheese and pineapples? That's just one of five schnitzel dishes, plus bratwurst and goulasch. Diners also get to pick from a variety of German side dishes for an interesting take-out experience.
