The town of Smithfield, North Carolina, is located on I-95 30 miles east of Raleigh, 100 miles north of the South Carolina state line and approximately 125 miles from North Carolina's beaches. The Neuse River runs through Smithfield before it heads on through Goldsboro and eventually New Bern to the ocean. Fishing, paddling, and hiking along the river will attract the outdoor adventurer.
