Rye Brook, New York is tucked in a corner of the Hudson River Valley, an area of natural beauty that inspired famous landscape artists, such as Thomas Cole. Less than an hour from New York City, the town's village setting is enhanced by acres of woodlands. Area hotels mainly cater to business travelers, but some locations allow pets and maintain their own walking trails.

Doral Arrowwood

Just a few miles from Rye Brook, the Doral Arrowwood resort is on 114 wooded acres. In addition to immediate access to area trails, guests may play golf, tennis, volleyball, racquetball, squash and basketball. There are also indoor and outdoor pools and a fitness center with a sauna. Guests may also schedule a massage. Many rooms have private walk-out patios and all rooms include free high-speed Internet access, a two-line telephone with voice mail and fax/modem data port, television with a selection of movie channels, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards, safes, and individual temperature controls. Rates during the week may average around $200 nightly, while weekend rates are around $150 a night.

Renaissance Westchester Hotel

Surrounded by 30 acres of countryside, the Renaissance Westchester Hotel offers a resort-style setting with easy access to nature hikes. Plenty of outdoor activities are within nine to 12 miles of the facility, including biking, hiking and rock climbing as well as seasonal water sports like kayaking, jet-skiing and sailing. A 30-room mansion, built in 1905 by New York architect John M. Carrere also is on the grounds. This resort-style hotel offers a relatively late check-out time at 1 p.m.; check-in is available at 3 p.m. Pets are not allowed. Weekend rates for a standard room start from around $139 nightly, but go up to around $200 nightly during the week. The hotel offers high-speed Internet for a daily rate of $12.95. It also has an indoor pool and whirlpool and provides on-site laundry service as well as a fitness center with free weights and cardiovascular equipment.

Hilton Rye Town

Hilton Rye Town is on the New York side of town two miles from the Connecticut border. In the midst of 45 acres of woodlands, the facility includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools as well as a whirlpool. A walking trail and jogging track also are on site. Pets up to 75 lbs. are allowed for a $75 fee. Free parking is offered as well as valet parking for $14 nightly. Laundry and valet service also are available as well as a teller machine. The hotel offers a complimentary fitness center with saunas and tennis courts. The Hilton chain's exclusive Suite Dreams mattress and box springs, Super Topper mattress pad, down-filled comforters and Touch of Down pillows are standard in rooms. Weekend rates for a standard room are from around $145 a night, while weekday rates start at around $180.
