This luxury hotel is actually a large boutique hotel that is situated on the banks of the River Tyne close to many of Newcastle's famous attractions. Its 122 rooms include 14 open-plan luxury suites on the top floor of the hotel, with all rooms boasting en-suite bath, satellite TV, CD players, same-day laundry and complimentary toiletries. Internet access is available free for 30 minutes per day, with a charge for any time used after this (a small drawback, especially considering the higher-than-average room rate). The hotel has a brasserie where you can get breakfast (or have it brought to you by room service), a bar and cafe and a fully equipped gym. Malmaison Hotel is a great base from which to enjoy Newcastle or its surrounding area.
