Each year, thousands of thrill seekers come to West Virginia's New River Gorge to get an adrenaline fix, and they rarely go away disappointed. Whether it's kayaking, rock climbing, or exploring, this place appeals to outdoorsmen of every kind.

Ace Adventure Resort

Cabins are often a great way to heighten the experience of a trip to the Mountain State. There are several to choose from near Oak Hill, though more can be found just north of the New River Gorge along Highway 19 or a few miles south near the city of Beckley, W.Va. Nevertheless, the Ace Adventure Resort 3.5 miles out of town offers one-bedroom cabins, two-bedroom chalets and more economical bunkhouses.

River Expeditions Cabins

Another option is also associated with a whitewater rafting company, River Expeditions. Located just off Highway 19 on the north end of Oak Hill, this company offers rustic cabins, semi-permanent tents-on-platforms, campsites and RV hookups. These primitive bring-your-own-bedding cabins rent for between $65 and $75 per night.

Other Lodging Options

There are several other cabin rentals available within a half-hour's drive of Oak Hill, especially between Fayetteville, W.Va., and Summersville, W.Va., to the north.
