Kobe Japanese Steak & Seafood House
The Kobe Japanese Steak & Seafood House is a chain with locations in Virginia, West Virginia, Michigan and Missouri as well as in Baltimore County's White Marsh neighborhood. Eating at Kobe is best described as a dining experience rather than a meal, as you'll be seated at a table for ten and your meal will be prepared teppanyaki-style, right on your tabletop. Menu choices include chicken, salmon, shrimp, scallops and lobster along with steak and filet mignon, as well as several combinations of the above choices. A vegetarian option is also available, and sushi and sashimi may be ordered as appetizers or from a set menu of combinations. All entrees are served with soup, salad, a shrimp appetizer, hibachi-cooked vegetables, noodles, steamed rice and sauces. Desserts include cheesecake, ice cream, and Japanese mochi ice cream. In addition to soft drinks, beer, wine, plum wine and sake, you can also order from a menu of specialty drinks including the Happy Buddha (rum, triple sec and pineapple juice), the Dancing Girl (passion fruit juice and white wine) and the Saketini (sake and dry vermouth).

Sakura Japanese Steak, Seafood & Sushi Bar
The Sakura Japanese Steak, Seafood & Sushi Bar got its start in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1988, and the chain now claims 13 locations in Maryland in addition to restaurants in Virginia, New Jersey and California. The Glen Burnie location is the closest one to downtown Baltimore, but the Hunt Valley, Belair, Ellicott City and Lauel locations are also convenient.
The Sakura's menu is divided into chicken and steak, vegetable, and seafood categories, the latter featuring the dramatically-named (and presented) shrimp flambe as well as lobster, shrimp, scallops and salmon. Combination platters are also available if you can't make up your mind, and all entrees come with a choice of appetizer (chicken livers, sauteed mushrooms or shrimp flambe) as well as salad, onion soup, vegetables and steamed or fried rice. Nigiri sushi and sashimi may be ordered by the two-piece serving, while sushi roll servings consist of six pieces or one hand roll. Sushi and sashimi combo entrees are also available in varying sizes. The children's menu offers a selection of smaller portioned items for kids nine and under, and the drinks menu features not only sake (hot or cold) and Kirin, Asahi and Sapporo beers, but also specialty cocktails. These include the Green Dragon (Midori, pineapple juice, orange juice and vodka), the Geisha (curacao, pineapple juice, lemon juice and rum) and the Fujiyama (rum, cream de banana, coconut cream and Kahlua).
