If you'll be traveling with your pet, Motel 6 is a good choice as pets are allowed to stay for free. The Days Inn in Northwest DC is located in the prestigious Forest Hills neighborhood, less than a mile from the 25-acre Hillwood Museum & Gardens, the former estate of heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post. This motel features free wirelss access, in-room coffee and a complimentary USA today on weekdays, but there is a daily charge for parking, and you're not likely to find any on-street parking in this neighborhood. Tesoro Restaurant offers Italian dining onsite, and other local restaurants include Sips Cafe at 4418 Connecticut Ave NW, Shanghai Garden at 4469 Connecticut Ave NW and a Subway restaurant right across the street at 4401 Connecticut Ave NW.

Red Roof Inn
The Red Roof Inn is the closest motel to downtown DC, located right in the Chinatown neighborhood just a block from the Verizon Center. This motel allows pets, and offers wireless internet access and coin-operated laundry facilities. The Irish Channel Restaurant and Pub is located right in the building, but if you're in the mood for Chinese food all you need to do is walk up H Street for a can't-miss selection of restaurants.
