Toronto, Ontario, is an active city at heart. The region's system of interconnected ravine parks allow cyclists, hikers and runners to cover kilometers of trails without ever seeing a car. The city's Beltline Trail is a repurposed railway line, turned into a long park that is popular with runners, families and pets.

Nataraj

Nataraj serves up authentic North Indian and Sri Lankan food in Toronto's Annex neighborhood. What the restaurant forgoes on decor it spends on traditional, high quality ingredients. The extensive menu features many different types of curries alongside tandoori chicken and plenty of lamb dishes. Vegetarian options include saag paneer and eggplant bharta, rich with cream, butter and intense spices.

Kamasutra Restaurant

Kamasutra is a mid-priced restaurant that tries to avoid many of the cliches of Indian cuisine. The decor is contemporary, with a long bar that serves dozens of micro-brewery beers. The menu eschews most deep fried favorites in favor of fresh and light entrees. Coconut-crusted calamari are poached in coconut milk. Goan-style tilapia and shrimp curry are a favorite, as is mewa masala, served with a creamy tomato sauce with cashews, whole nuts and raisins.

Trimurti

Located in trendy Queen West, Trimurti is a bustling spot that focuses on the flavors of Southern India. Budget-friendly menu items include lamb vindaloo; chunks of meat with potatoes in a spicy sauce. Jhinga saag features shrimp cooked in spinach with herbs & spices. Vegetarians will enjoy the brainy tandoori cauliflower that is cooked beyond recognition, creating a delicious combination of crispy vegetables and a spreadable spicy paste.
