About 35 miles east of Fredericksburg, Virginia, on the Potomac River is a town, Colonial Beach, that's also called "Playground on the Potomac." Colonial Beach is home to the Alexander Graham Bell house. Traveling a short distance south, you'll find Westmoreland State Park, where you can take a hike on a beach trail along the Potomac River. Caledon Natural Area, 23 miles east of Fredericksburg, is a habitat for bald eagles. It offers hiking areas through the bald eagle areas, but it's not open to the public when the young are learning to fly and fish.
