Portland Sushi Restaurants

Portland Sushi Restaurants
Visitors to Portland can choose from outdoor adventurers such as biking, hiking and skiing. After a day calorie-burning activity, it's nice to know Portland is a city full of great restaurants. Here's a few of your best sushi options.

Bamboo Sushi

Bamboo Sushi is the first certified, sustainable sushi restaurant in the world. Bamboo Sushi only serves items that can be safely harvested from species with healthy populations or farmed in a way that doesn't harm the environment. It doesn't serve unagi, bluefin toro or octopus, but it makes up for them with other dishes such as a mixed seafood and vegetable tempura or a variety of eel options. And the fish is always good, especially the black cod, according the the Willamette Week 2009 Restaurant Guide.

Biwa

Biwa's menu is divided into four sections: izakaya (cold and hot basics), yakimono (small skewers of meat, fish and vegetables), soup and noodles (including miso, udon and ramen), and three set meals. Again, according to the Willamette Week 2009 Restaurant Guide, the food at Biwa extremely tasty, but the servings are relatively small. If you arrive hungry, you might end up with a bigger bill than you'd anticipated. The kimchi (pickled goods) and yakitori (grilled chicken) are popular and tasty options, both according to my experience, the Willamette Week 2009 Restaurant Guide, and the Biwa website.

Mio Sushi

Mio sushi is a Portland favorite. It's so well liked in fact, that it has seven locations throughout the metro area according to the Mio Sushi website. Mio sushi is that special kind of restaurant I go to when I want a predictable meal at a good price. The bento bowls are delicious and reasonably priced, especially the teriyaki salmon, in my experience. The sushi and nigiri options are plentiful and affordable. Don't forget to order an appetizer of edamame.
