Bamboo Sushi
Bamboo Sushi is the first certified, sustainable sushi restaurant in the world. Bamboo only serves items that can be taken from healthy species and without harming the environment--although from the taste of it they aren't making much of a sacrifice to do so. Although the restaurant does not serve unagi, bluefin toro or octopus, it makes up for it with other dishes, such as a tasty mixed seafood and vegetable tempura or a variety of eel options. The fish is always spot on, especially the black cod, which comes highly recommended.

Biwa
Biwa's menu is divided into four sections: izakaya ("cold," "hot," and "basics"), yakimono (individual skewers of meat, fish and vegetables), soup and noodles (miso, udon and ramen), and predetermined meals, of which there are three. As tasty as the food, the servings are relatively small, and if diners arrive famished they might leave a little lighter in the pocket than they would like. The ambiance is great, however, and there's no better place to sit down with some friends or co-workers, order a bottle of sake, and take a load off. The kimchi (pickled goods) and yakitori (grilled chicken) are popular options.

Mio Sushi
Mio Sushi is a Portland favorite--and guests can be sure of this because it has seven locations throughout the metro area. Mio Sushi is the kind of place to go to when people want a tasty, low maintenance meal where everything is prepared and served just how they would expect it, oh yeah, and the price is right. The bento bowls are delicious, especially the teriyaki salmon. The sushi and nigiri options are plentiful, affordable, and creatively named, which is always a nice touch at a sushi restaurant.
