Italian Restaurants in Cleveland, OH

Italian Restaurants in Cleveland, OH
Most people are pleasantly surprised by their first visit to Cleveland. The area has lots of great outdoor spaces: lush green parks, miles of all-purpose trails, rivers and a big, beautiful lake for boating, swimming and fishing, and even a few small ski resorts for the winter months. Lots of great restaurants exist in the city, including three local favorites where you just cannot go wrong.

Delsangro's Ristorante

As of 2009, Giuseppe DelSangro has been in the restaurant business for more than 50 years and has learned quite a bit about satisfying his customers in all that time. He bought a little building on Snow Road, close to the Cleveland airport in the early 1980s and built it into one of the city's best Italian restaurants. He has since moved on to warmer climates with his new Giuseppe's Restaurant in Las Vegas, but the family and DelSangro's Ristorante in Cleveland remain hometown favorites. A menu filled with Italian favorites and flawless execution have earned thousands of loyal customers. The entire staff is also excellent and the service is great, from the hostess to bartender to servers. There is a lounge on one side of the restaurant that often has live entertainment, with the opposite side having a more relaxed vibe. Menu best sellers are the Italian pastas, chicken and veal parmesan, and steak and chops.

Corleone's Ristorante

Corleone's Ristorante was opened in 1995 and started as a little Italian restaurant and pizza joint. From those humble beginnings, it has grown into one of Cleveland's most well-loved restaurant. The restaurant is divided, with part of it being quiet, candlelit and romantic. The other side is the flip side: noisy, rowdy and packed with the party crowd. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and looks pretty ho-hum from the outside, but inside you will find hardwood floors, chandeliers and a long granite bar. There is also a private room available for special occasions; it's decorated in a style that can only be called early Capone. Corleone's earns more awards each year than most other restaurants in town put together. The menu specialties are steaks, seafood and the glorious pasta dishes, and it also has an extensive wine list.

Mama Santa's Restaurant

Mama Santa's location in a historic brick building in the middle of Little Italy and its great food make it a Cleveland tradition. With soft music and just a handful of tables, the mood is perfect for date night. Just a short walk from Case Western Reserve, it is popular with young people and long married couples alike. The cooking is Sicilian style, with simple recipes and nothing exotic. The food is basic Italian--great quality and wholesome--and the noodles are made on the premises. Mama Santa's is also an annual award winner.
