Known as the energy capital of Saskatchewan, Estevan is located in southeastern Saskatchewan, just 10 miles north of the U.S. border. Coal, oil and power are some of major industries that help the area thrive, along with agriculture. Oil pump jacks dot the area in and around Estevan. Some 6,000 oil wells are located within a 100-mile radius of the city. The city is perched on the north side of the Souris River Valley. The river was formed as the result of a glacial spill. Comfortable motels abound in this town of 10,000 people.
