North Hollywood Italian Restaurants

North Hollywood Italian Restaurants
North Hollywood, California, located in the San Fernando Valley, is a hodge podge of ethnic groups. Unlike other cities, the Italian Immigrants to these areas never established a "little Italy," so finding an Italian enclave is almost impossible. Fortunately, several of those immigrants who came west seeking the warm Mediterranean climate settled in North Hollywood and started family restaurants, some of which are still operation today. These are not "California Cuisine" restaurants with small portions at garish prices, rather family founded establishments with food that can't be beat.

Pinocchio Restaurant

The family owned Monte Carlo Deli has been a North Hollywood mainstay for more than 40 years. Attached to that well-known deli is the Pinocchio Italian Restaurant. Sample the dishes they serve: lasagna, eggplant Parmesan, baked ziti, chicken rosemary, pizza as well as their famous great meatball subs. The atmosphere is very casual and the food is served cafeteria style. Just a few miles away, some of the best-known restaurants in the world hold a fork to a meal at the Pinocchio where you'll get an excellent large meal at a very low cost.

Angulino International Cusine

Formerly known as Tino's, Angulino's 's is another of the Valley's unassuming treats. Located in a strip mall, once inside, there is some charm to the place. What shows is the owner's pride in his cooking and his establishment. Diners should plan on the chicken pillared or the spinach ravioli. Angulinos serves a variety of pastas and a variety of sauces, and will gladly mix and match to your request. The wine list is limited, and they've been known to allow you to bring in your own bottle of wine. The best surprise is at the check at the end of the meal. This is another restaurant where you get a great meal at very low price.

Victorio's Pizza

Victorio's Pizza has been a mainstay of the San Fernando dining establishment since 1964. A family run restaurant, the food is always prepared fresh daily. The pizza is incredible and at times, unconventional. Try the zesty chicken pizza covered with marinated chicken, onions, garlic and an assortment of herbs. Victorio's makes their pizza "New York Style," which means a thin crust (something hard to find in Los Angeles). Don't be put off by the strip mall location; this is authentic Italian dining.
