Romantic Philadelphia Restaurants

Romantic Philadelphia Restaurants
Philadelphia is full of romantic restaurants and settings. Many people like to try unique or adventurous cuisine on dates, and Philadelphia has a variety of establishments fitting this criteria. After a long day of walking around the city or hiking a nearby park (such as nearby Valley Forge National Historical Park), it's great to take advantage of one of the many romantic restaurants located in the city.

White Dog Cafe

The White Dog Cafe is an intimate and unassuming restaurant. The cafe owner is noted for philanthropic pursuits and for being environmentally conscious. The White Dog Cafe officially supports progressive movements such as opposition to GMO (genetically modified organisms) and campaigning for a living wage. Located in a Victorian neighborhood in University City, this is a popular date night site for college students.

The menu at the White Dog Cafe contains vegetarian options. The cuisine is primarily inspired by the native food of the Americas, served in a contemporary fashion. The Artisan Cheese Plate features local cheese; this is a highly-suggested menu item.

Fogo de Chao

After an active day, Fogo de Chao will help you replenish protein. This upscale Brazilian restaurant is a meat lover's paradise. Meat is served gaucho style--that is, it's freshly prepared in the kitchen and cut to your specification at your table. Fogo is a wonderful date place due to the romantic atmosphere, including high ceilings, candlelight and Brazilian decor.

The novelty of ordering by card also makes Fogo an entertaining option for a date. Customers receive a two-sided card: one side is red, the other green. If the card is red side up, the servers will skip over you. If the card is green side up, they will converge upon you with various meat selections. Cuisine also includes polenta and delicious pão de queijo (warm cheese bread).

The Melting Pot

Sharing food can make an entire meal romantic. This is the idea at The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant. A full meal includes salad, cheese fondue, main course and dessert. You and your date are asked to select the type of cheese and broth you would like to share for the cheese fondue appetizer and main course. The Melting Pot offers a vegetable broth and meat-free entree option for vegetarians.

Servers at The Melting Pot describe the process of preparing fondue as well as the ingredients as they are added. This restaurant also has frequent specials, so check the website for complete information.
