Atmore, Alabama is a small town about 50 miles north of Mobile, Alabama. It is filled with old fashioned traditions, such as the one in which stores close on Thursday afternoon. The area is best known as the home of the Poarch Creek Indians, so there is plenty of unspoiled land in the area. The Little River State Forest and the Magnolia Wildlife Preserve are popular attractions. There are also several hotels in the area that cater to weary travelers.

Wind Creek Casino and Hotel

This complex features a 236-room, full-service hotel attached to a large casino. The casino, it should be noted, only features slot machines; there are no table games. The casino has a traditional buffet, as well as a coffee shop and more formal restaurant. Those traveling by RV will find hookups available at the Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve 6 miles away. For a truly back-to-nature experience, don't miss the Tribe's annual "Pow Wow" on Thanksgiving, featuring Native American entertainment and foods like roasted corn.
