College of the Atlantic
Bar Harbor is home to the College of the Atlantic, a small private liberal arts college with an enrollment of just over 350 students. What makes the College of the Atlantic unique is that they only award one undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Human Ecology. However, students may design their program of study in a variety of disciplines. The scenic oceanfront campus is situated on Mount Desert Island, with research stations on Great Duck Island and Mount Desert Rock and a 5-acre certified organic farm and farm stand located on Beech Hill.
