Historic Hotels in Geneva, Illinois
Geneva, Illinois, is in the Fox River Valley, 40 miles west of Chicago. The region is rich in history. For more then 6,000 years, Indians inhabited the river valley. Home styles range from Greek Revival, Italianate and Queen Anne. Local stone quarried from the river has been used in much of the town's construction. Geneva has 50 parks that span 700 acres offering biking, picnicking, boating and hiking opportunities.

Oscar Swan Inn

Oscar Swan Inn was built by a banker named Oscar Swan in the 1860s. The architecture is a common farmhouse look of the era. In the 1890s, the farmhouse was expanded and revamped into a local gentleman's club. The inn was created into a historic bed and breakfast in the 1950s. There are eight guest rooms, all of which are furnished with period antiques. Rooms feature either a private bath or shower. There is a large breakfast room for guests to enjoy. The inn sits on 8 acres that guests can stroll through.

Hotel Baker

Hotel Baker is 2 miles from downtown Geneva. The hotel was built in 1928. Many historic and famous figures have stayed at the Hotel Baker, including Lawrence Welk, Guy Lombardo, Louis Armstrong, John F. Kennedy, Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley, Gerald Ford, Billy Graham and Tommy Dorsey. Hotel Baker is on the National Register of Historic Places. Guest rooms offer wireless Internet, robes, coffee maker with free coffee, hair dryer, complimentary paper and cable TV. The hotel offers guests a complimentary breakfast every morning, fitness center and a laundry service. They do offer a penthouse that features a two-person rooftop Jacuzzi.

Barrington House Bed and Breakfast

Barrington House Bed and Breakfast is 26 miles from downtown Geneva. Built in 1894 as a brick residence, it has been restored. Guest rooms feature period antiques, tub and shower or bath and shower combinations. A few of the rooms offer a fireplace. There is a music room, parlor with complimentary beverages, a side porch and a courtyard with table and chairs. They offer a complimentary breakfast every morning, broadband Internet, fresh ground coffee, and televisions with DVD player.
