Hotels in Silverton, CO
No matter when you visit Silverton, Colorado, there is always something to do. This southwestern Colorado town sits deep in the San Juan Mountains, rich in its history as a rough and tumble mining town. Summer, spring and fall bring countless hours of hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. If you're in for steep and deep powder riding this winter--Silverton is the place. More rustic than larger resorts, Silverton Mountain has some of the best back-country skiing in Colorado. Back in town, slip into the Wild West and catch some rest in one of Silverton's Victorian hotels.

The Grand Imperial

At the end of the scenic Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway sits the Grand Imperial Hotel. Every detail of this historic hotel reminds you of Silverton's wild mining boom days. One wall houses a lodged bullet from a western shoot-out. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings, private bath and down comforters for those cold Colorado evenings. One- and two-bedroom suites, as well as single rooms, are delicately donned with antiques and lace. Views of the San Juan Mountains are available. Grab a beer at Grumpy's saloon downstairs. The Grand Imperial provides easy access to downtown Silverton, jeep, hiking and biking trails, and is just a few minutes from skiing at Silverton Mountain.

The Bent Elbow

Originally built as a saloon and bordello in 1907, today the Bent Elbow houses a six-room hotel, bar and restaurant. The original building burned to the ground in 1968, but was quickly restored to its Victorian roots. Each room is equipped with a private bath, cable television and Internet capabilities. The Presidential Suite has a full kitchen and dining area for longer stays. All rooms have mountain views. Check out the happenings on Blair Street by booking one of the two balcony suites. Sing along with the honky-tonk piano in the saloon, or if too beat from playing, order room service from the restaurant.
