The Green Elephant
This Asian-influenced vegetarian bistro has a comfortable yet elegant interior. Located in the heart of Portland's revitalized warehouse district, Old Port, the Green Elephant is a favorite of locals and tourists alike. In 2009, it was rated #1 out of the 329 dining venues in Portland by Trip Advisor reviewers. Although closed on Mondays, the restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner and on Sunday for dinner only. Entree items include dishes such as organic green tea noodles, tofu tikka masala and Far East duck. Being a vegetarian restaurant, all "meat" dishes are made with soy protein.

It has also been named by City Magazine at the sixth best restaurant in the entire United States. With accolades piling up, this chic upscale restaurant is worth checking out. Open daily for dinner, Five Fifty-Five also opens for a special Sunday brunch between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Diners move through a variety of courses: an appetizer, a green course, the main savory course, cheese and dessert. This restaurant even makes old classics exciting, such as the truffled lobster mac and cheese. It is a dressy restaurant, so ditch the hiking boots and get fancied up for a night on the town.
