Sala Thai Restaurant & Lounge
Sala Thai is a casual Asian restaurant, dishing out authentic Thai cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Open since 1988, this family-run restaurant has an ample seating area and offers both dine-in and take-out. Most entree items can be ordered with your choice of chicken, steak, pork, shrimp, duck or tofu. Prices are relatively inexpensive, and you can try Thai classics, such as Massaman Curry and Tom Yam soup. Reviewers have noted that the interior can be a bit cold, so bring along a sweater or jacket in case the air-conditioner seems to be working overtime.

Portland House of Pizza
This family-run establishment is not your typical pizza joint. The owners have taken measures to make their pizzas healthier, such as abstaining from the use of oil with trans fat in the dough and using only meats that are low in fat. The interior seats about 70 and has a casual atmosphere. Made to order pizzas and specialty pizzas are freshly baked. The menu also boasts wraps, burgers, hot grinders, starters, salads and pasta dishes.

Tu Casa
If you are a lover of Mexican food, check out this Salvadoran restaurant on Washington Ave. Tu Casa exudes a casual and relaxed feel, as Spanish soap operas play on the TV. Family-oriented and friendly, the restaurant has a special kids' menu and is big enough to seat large groups. Start off your meal with a Pupusa, the national dish of El Salvador. Then, dig into your main course featuring either chicken, beef or vegetarian fare. The menu is similar to what you would find in a Mexican restaurant, although Tu Casa claims that the Salvadoran version is healthier.
