McLean County, located in the center of Illinois, is the largest county in the state and an Abraham Lincoln heritage site. The metropolitan center of the county is Bloomington-Normal, the corporate home of State Farm Insurance and Country Cos., as well as Illinois State University and Illinois Weslyan University. Accommodations are plentiful inside Bloomington-Normal, with more than 30 motel/hotels and notable historic bed-and-breakfast establishments.

The area offers many fine golf courses and supports professional hockey, indoor football and baseball teams. Camping, fishing, boating and trails are found at nearby Lake Bloomington and Lake Evergreen just minutes north of the city. The scenic Constitution Trail, available for walking, jogging, and cycling, winds through nearly 40 miles of Bloomington-Normal and outlying areas and was designated a Millennium Trail in 2000. Several motels connect to the Constitution Trail system.

Located along Business Interstate 55 on the border between Normal and Bloomington, The Chateau Motel and Conference Center is fashioned around an elegant old-world European theme. It is located next to one of the Constitution Trail trailheads for easy access to the system. The Parke Hotel and Conference Center

Located near the Central Illinois Regional Airport on the far east side of the Twin Cities, The Parke is one of the area's newest luxury boutique hotels. The Parke offers luxury rooms, an atrium and garden, and a fitness center as well as a high-end restaurant. A Constitution Trail trailhead is nearby and leads to one of the most interesting destination parks in the Bloomington-Normal parks system: Tipton Park, an archetype of a prairie wetlands landscape. The Parke is conveniently situated near shopping, cinemas and restaurants.

The Doubletree Hotel and Conference Center

The DoubleTree, a Hilton hotel, is located on the south side of Bloomington on Business 55, not far from the beautiful State Farm Corporate South campus. The DoubleTree offers traditional Hilton features and services. The southern leg of the Constitution Trail offers a trailhead entrance not far from the DoubleTree and winds through State Farm's extensive landscaped grounds and into the country. Several major golf courses are located just to the south and west of the hotel. Restaurants are nearby and shopping is located just a few blocks north on Business 55.

Country Inn and Suites

On the far west side of Bloomington-Normal, the Country Inn and Suites motel is located close to an entry to the Constitution Trail system. This part of the trail will take you farther west, out into the rural settings surrounding Bloomington-Normal, as well as east into the interesting downtown area. The motel room rates are economically priced. Restaurants are nearby, though major shopping malls are located downtown and on the far east side of town. The location is convenient to historic downtown Bloomington with its many Victorian buildings and Abraham Lincoln connections, including Lincoln's law offices and the McLean County Historical Museum, located in a restored Victorian courthouse where Lincoln practiced law. Downtown Bloomington features many programs near the Constitution Trail, including a Saturday Farmers Market in season as well as outdoor events at Miller Park and on Main Street downtown.

Vrooman Mansion Bed and Breakfast

The Vrooman Mansion, located in downtown Bloomington and near the Constitution Trail, belonged to a Cabinet member in the Wilson administration, Carl Vrooman, and his wife Julia. First built in 1869 and remodeled in 1900 under the direction of architect Arthur Pillsbury, the Vrooman Mansion offers five historically appointed rooms and outstanding guest services. The mansion is situated in a residential area dotted with many fine Victorian homes and on a beautifully landscaped garden lot in keeping with the era of the mansion.
