Snorkeling at Xel-Ha

On the Mayan Riviera, Xel-Ha is known as the world's most beautiful "natural aquarium." Due to the concentrations of halocline and thermocline, the water in Xel-Ha produces a visual effect like a mirage, with freshwater floating on top of seawater. This environment, the only one outside of the Arctic Ocean, is a productive habitat for sea life. Xel-Ha is home to more than 70 species of freshwater and seawater fish. The diversity of sea life and the clearness of the water makes snorkeling in Xel-Ha like swimming in an aquarium without glass and walls. For children, there is a snorkeling school that will teach them everything they need to know to explore the calm, crystal clear waters of Xel-Ha. There are six snorkel centers dotted around the inlet for ease of access.

For older kids, Swim with the Dolphin Program is the experience of a lifetime. Dolphins push kids across a private lagoon, give them kisses and teach them a few tricks. For adults, you can be a Dolphin Trainer for the Day. Each program includes information on dolphin physiology, training and habitat as well as acrobatics.

Cancun Jeep Jungle Tour

Drive a Jeep Wrangler with your family into the southern jungles outside of Cancun and explore the local habitat. A safari guide will keep in touch with you via two-way radio and teach you about the regional wildlife of this jungle ecosystem. For a break, snorkel in the clear waters of a private cenote in Puerto Morelos. Cenotes, unique to the Yucatan peninsula, are sinkholes that fill with freshwater for clear swimming. Many cenotes contain underwater caves, perfect for exploring. Your jeep holds four passengers and is suitable for children of all ages. After the jeep ride and swim, older children will also enjoy riding zip-lines through the jungle.
