Thai Essence serves up typical and innovative Thai dishes. With the same owners as Basil Thai and Bubble Tea, this restaurant caters more to families and professionals who settled in the West Lafayette, off-the-beaten-path of Purdue students. As such, the menu is somewhat similar but differs as a family establishment that serves beer and wine for the parents. Meals range from $10 to $15 (as of 2009). Try the pad Thai, Gang Panang (tender beef curry) or red curry, accompanied by taro ice cream or smoothie drinks.

Exotic Thai
Located in Lafayette, across the street from the Tippecanoe mall, Exotic Thai combines authentic Thai staples and contemporary decor. Try the curry dishes with rice, the noodles, coconut vegetables and tom kum soup, coupled with either Thai iced tea or Thai iced coffee. Meals range between $7 and $15 (as of 2009). The restaurant is incredibly family friendly. If you plan on hitting the shops at the mall, this is the place to go.
