Bombay Gardens
It would be easy to miss this gem, found just off of Route 18 North, about a half-mile south of the Brunswick Square Mall. This Indian restaurant specializes in South Indian food, which is a rarity in North America. Try the dosa, which contain spicy masalas wrapped in a thin bread layer. Even if you love spicy food, be careful at Bombay Gardens; when you order at the three-pepper level here, your tongue will feel it for days.

Wasabi House
Found just off of Tices Lane across from the P.C. Richard's and T.J. Maxx, this small Japanese restaurant will cost you a bit more than other eateries in town, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The highlight of Wasabi House is its fish preparations; if you're hungry, order a whole fish and revel in Wasabi's rich, complex sauces. If you don't want to risk a large dinner bill, try out its more reasonable lunch specials first.

Although this is located literally yards outside of the East Brunswick border in Milltown, this restaurant is far and away the town's most popular eatery. Anyone who's familiar with Jewish food will find something to love here, including thick, fatty briskets, rich gefilte fish and potato salad to die for. If you're passing through the area with a cold, Lox Stock and Deli's matzo ball soup will soothe your cough.
