Hotels in Coalinga
Coalinga, Calif., a small city 60 miles south of Fresno, sits tucked away in Pleasant Valley at the edge of California's Coast Mountain Range. As can be told by the name, the town grew on the site of a railroad coaling station (Coaling Station A). Nearby Los Gatos Creek County Park offers hiking, but a better outing is to travel to the Joachim Rocks, a rugged area of rocky outcroppings located northwest of Coalinga. Local legend claims this was the hideout for California's most famous bandit, Joaquin Murrieta.

A trip to Clear Creek can give a visitor a chance to try some amateur prospecting in one of California's most highly mineralized areas, and north of Coalinga are the Diablo Mountains, with San Benito Mountain as the highpoint of the range. Ranked as California's 29th most prominent peak, San Benito is accessible by car and the mountain is surrounded by the San Benito Research Natural Area. As for the city of Coalinga, accommodations in Coalinga are simple and spartan. While the motels offer common amenities, there is nothing that would qualify as upscale in this community.

A complimentary continental breakfast will greet you in the mornings, as will a complimentary copy of USA Today. The hotel welcomes RV and buses and has an outdoor pool for your relaxation.
