The latest venture by Chef Sudhir Seth features a contemporary approach to Indian cuisine. While Chef Sudhir's Passage to India in Bethesda features regional dishes little known to the American public, the new Rockville restaurant showcases Indian dishes that have been influenced by foreign cultures. This is not fusion, but foreign dishes that have been amalgamated into Indian cuisine. Chef Sudhir, who was born and trained in India, has built up some of the Washington area's best-known Indian restaurants. The new restaurant (spoken as Spice Crossing) includes small tasting plates, kebabs and curries, and is located right on the Rockville Town Square. Silk sails billow on the ceiling of the airy, modern interior, which has colorful photos of Indian spices and a glittery sculpture of the Hindu mythological wish-fulfilling tree.

Bombay Bistro
This is the more traditional low-cost family-friendly type of Indian restaurant. Dating back to the early 1990s, the restaurant features regional dishes from both North and South India. The decor features warm colors and Indian artifacts. The daily specials include a unique combination of seafood dishes from the coastal regions of India. Chef K.N. Vinod built on the success of this restaurant to open another Bombay Bistro in Fairfax, VA, as well as Indique and Indique Heights in Washington, DC and Chevy Chase, MD.

Memsahib Indian Restaurant
This restaurant behind the White Flint mall departs from the buffet style to serve a prix fixe dinner family style of traditional cuisine--with no silverware "as a traditional Indian family would at their countryside home," the restaurant says. There is a lunch buffet if that is your preference.
