The beach town of Melbourne is located along Florida's central east coastline, known as the "Space Coast," just an hour south of the Kennedy Space Center. Melbourne enjoys a semi-tropical climate year-round, making it the perfect spot for a variety of activities, like golfing, fishing, camping, boating, swimming, surfing, tennis, snorkeling and beach combing. There is also a zoo; flea market; and a number of museums, galleries and performance centers in the area. And once you've worked up an appetite exploring all that Melbourne has to offer, there are a number of good steakhouses nearby.

Foreman's Steak House

Located along Indian Harbor Beach, on the small, offshore island that makes up part of Melbourne, this cozy steakhouse offers delicious home-style meals. All steaks are made from grain-fed beef, hand-cut and cooked to order. In addition, Foreman's offers a wide selection of seafood, burgers, chicken and pork, as well as a variety of wines, spirits, beers and non-alcoholic drinks. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, Monday through Friday, and for dinner, only on the weekend.

Djon's Steak and Lobster House

Just a short drive south along the island from Foreman's sits Djon's Steak and Lobster House. Designed by chef and wine enthusiast Djon Pepaj, this ocean-view restaurant offers a fine-dining main area and a casual piano bar with regularly scheduled live performances. Only high-quality beef cuts are served, along with a variety of seafood, chops and salads. Djon's is open seven days a week for dinner service only.

Makatos Seafood and Steakhouse

Located just a couple blocks up from the beach, Makatos, home of the famous Makotos Sauces, is a truly unique Asian dining experience. The restaurant offers a number of steak, seafood, chicken, pork and vegetarian dishes, as well as a variety of sushi plates. The talented chefs will wow you with their expert skills while preparing and cooking your food table-side on hibachi grills. A lounge area serves drinks and food from a shortened menu. Makatos is open for lunch, Monday through Saturday, and dinner, every day of the week. Children eat free on Sundays.
