Front Porch Steakhouse

A locals' favorite for its great food, good prices and fun, homey atmosphere, even John Mellencamp enjoys a good meal here at the Front Porch Steakhouse from time to time. An easy nine-mile drive from Bloomfield and located in the town of Worthington, traditional steakhouse fare is served and the staff is friendly. The Rose Room is a must-see as the aptly name carpet rests on the walls as well. Enjoy homemade pies straight from the owner herself, Nancy Lee. Steak, biscuits and gravy, ribs, chicken and catfish are all available as entrees. One smoking room is offered. The restaurant is closed Monday. Dinner hours occur Friday and Saturday. Other times of operation vary, so call ahead.

Pinto's Southwest Steakhouse & Pub

In nearby Bedford, a short 16-mile drive away, sits Pinto's Southwest Steakhouse. Known by the locals as a place to enjoy good food, good prices and good service, this restaurant has a wide array of entrees to choose from. Expected steakhouse plates are well-seasoned and cooked, plus sandwiches and seafood are available as well as a kids menu. All entrees come complete with a salad and dinner roll. A full-service bar and large assortment of import and domestic beer are offered. Call ahead for hours, as they vary. The pub and restaurant commonly close around 9 p.m.

So if you're in the mood for an Australian adventure and great food, it's a quick 25-mile drive from Bloomfield. An old favorite, the bloomin' onion, awaits you, as well as the seared ahi tuna on the appetizer list. There are steaks, seafood and numerous burgers and sandwiches to choose from. Whatever you enjoy, don't forget to leave room for sides and dessert. Healthy portions are standard. A gluten-free and kids menus are available. Outback is open for dinner only, but call ahead for hours, as times vary.
