Cabins or Chalets Within Walking Distance of Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
Located just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg is a popular town for families, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The downtown has many restaurants, gift shops and commercial attractions for visitors to explore after a long day on the trail. The national park has more than 800 miles of trails, including a section of the Appalachian Trail. Ober Gatlinburg, the local ski resort, is right on the edge of downtown.

Mountain Lodge Cabin

This three-story cabin has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms. It sleeps up to 14 people. There are large windows throughout to let guests enjoy the mountain views. Mountain-themed murals decorate the dining room and several of the bedrooms. The top deck has a gas grill and patio furniture, while the bottom deck has a Jacuzzi tub. The house also has pool, Foosball and air hockey tables. Other amenities include a wood-burning fireplace, washer/dryer, fully functional kitchen and nine televisions with entertainment systems. The cabin is less than a mile away from downtown Gatlinburg. The Roaring Forks Motor Nature Trail, a five-mile paved loop road, is nearby for visitors to cycle or hike. Along the route are historic buildings and side trails that lead to waterfalls and streams.

Maples Cottage

Located on the Sidney James Mountain Lodge property, this cottage is a short walk from downtown Gatlinburg. The cottage has two bedrooms, each with a king bed. There is a full kitchen and dining room. The living room has a fireplace and television. A hot tub and grill are housed on the patio. Guests have access to the lodge's indoor and outdoor pools. Before heading out to the park, guests can stop by the lodge's poolside cafe to pick up sandwiches for a picnic. They are also invited to use the Internet at the lodge. The cottage is close to Mynatt Park and just two miles from the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and visitors center. Ober Gatlinburg is less than a mile away.

Mountain Views Cabin

Located on the mountain slopes overlooking downtown Gatlinburg, the Mountain Views Cabin offers privacy and convenience. It is an easy walk down hill to the center of town. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It sleeps up to four people. The bedrooms are decorated with antique furniture and a king bed. Rooms are also equipped with a Jacuzzi. The kitchen is spacious, with a dining room table for four, and complete with microwave, stove and refrigerator. Televisions, with cable and HBO, are in the kitchen and lounge area. An outdoor pool is on the grounds. For privacy, there are no phones or Internet access. Winter visitors can enjoy Ober Gatlinburg, which is less than a mile away. At 3,000 feet, the slopes offer skiing and snowboarding on eight trails. Clingman's Dome is 10 miles away and offers hikers a chance to climb to the highest peak in the Great Smoky Mountains. The Appalachian Trail also crosses near the dome.
