The town of Milford, Mass., is famous for pink granite, which was quarried for many years and shipped throughout the world to be used in buildings and monuments. Many outdoor recreational opportunities exist nearby. Hike, boat or fish at Hopkinton State Park, or stay in the town to enjoy a walk on the Upper Charles Trail. Brazilian food lovers visiting Milford will have to travel a bit of a distance to find restaurants, but may find that trip to be very worth it after a day outside.

Located 45 miles from Milford, Oasis Brazilian Restaurant offers several tempting house specialties. These include favorites such as Brazilian barbecue with a combination of four types of meat and Brazuka, which is a meat-lover's dream. But before you try the main course, consider starting with one of the many appetizers such as crispy fried yucca and hot beef jerky. More adventurous diners can try sautéed chicken hearts with grilled onions. The restaurant is available for private events of up to 100 people and also offers catering.

Cafe Brazil

Café Brazil is located in Allston, Mass., a 35-mile trip from Milford. This non-smoking restaurant is open seven days a week. The restaurant has been serving customers since 1986 and is owned by Valter Vitorino, a native Brazilian. Specializing in authentic, native recipes, the large menu includes items such as linguica and vegetarian pasta. All entrees come with rice and beans. For those with smaller appetites, an extensive selection of side items is available. Dessert lovers can chose from coconut pudding with caramel sauce, pineapple pie, rice pudding, passion fruit mousse, custard pudding with caramel sauce or chocolate mousse cheesecake.

Muqueca Restaurant

For those willing to make the 37-mile trek from Milford, the award winning Muqueca Restaurant has much to offer them. Offering dishes from the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo is its specialty. This type of cuisine is cooked in a large clay pot and commonly includes seafood, flavored with spices. Fatima and Antonio Gomes, owners and chefs, use the juices of exotic fruits from the Amazon rain forest, including acai, graviola and acerola to enhance the flavor of their dishes. The dining room offers a small, intimate feel for patrons to enjoy and is open every day of the week except Monday.
